Conclusion of CAPA fund-raising for donation to the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake Relief

On May 14, 2008, we initiated a fund-raising to help with the Sichuan Earthquake Relief (http://www.capa-ht.org/Announcement/Fund08.mht).  Our members and their friends responded overwhelmingly.  A total of $17,050 was received.  After discussion among the organizers, a decision was made to send the lump sum to The Red Cross Society of China, designated to: 2008 Sichuan Earthquake Relief. 

On July 23, 2008, a check for $17,050 was sent to The Red Cross Society of China (No.53 Ganmianhutong, Dongcheng district, Beijing, 100010), with a letter explaining the purpose (click here).  The check was deposited on October 1, 2008.  Recently, we received an acknowledgement, and an official receipt (see image; please note that the amount is in RMB).  As conclusion, we are reporting back to our members that every penny that was collected was donated. 

We want to thank all the generous donors for their generosity.  You all should have received a receipt for this (if not, please contact us).  Also, we like to thank Dr. Maomi Li for so much time and effort he’s spent with this honorable endeavor, and Dr. Qing Huang as treasurer in handling the transactions.
