The Department of Pathology at UH Case Medical Center is seeking a
fellowship-trained, board certified or eligible pathologist with sub
specialty expertise in cytopathology and surgical pathology. We offer
an extremely competitive salary and benefits package plus a generous
relocation allowance. An academic appointment with Case Western
Reserve University is available. This is an open rank position.
Compensation and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s
experience and qualifications.
The Department of Pathology at UH Case Medical Center has 30 full and
part time faculty. All faculty hold appointments in the Department of
Pathology at Case Western Reserve University and assist in the
training of medical students and graduate students at the School of
Medicine. Opportunities for basic science, translational and clinical
collaborations are available. A total of 32,000 surgical pathology
specimens, 57,000 cytology specimens [including 5,200 non-
gynecological specimens] are processed annually. This is in addition
to 10,000 specimens processed in the Department of Dermatology. The
Department of Cytopathology runs an accredited fellowship training
program.
The UH System´s 947-bed, tertiary medical center, University
Hospitals, and CWRU form the largest center for biomedical research in
the State of Ohio. Included in UH are Rainbow Babies & Children´s
Hospital; Ireland Cancer Center, northern Ohio´s only National Cancer
Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center (the nation´s highest

The Blood Bank and Transfusion Services support the needs of 13
medical and surgical specialties, the Ireland Cancer Center, MacDonald
Women’s Hospital and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Our Donor
Apheresis Center encompasses an active therapeutic apheresis program,
autologous blood donation, peripheral hematopoietic stem cell
collections and allogeneic apheresis platelet collections. The
Department has a strong residency training program and shares an
accredited Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program with the
American Red Cross and Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Successful candidates will have an MD +/- PhD, will be eligible for
medical licensure in Ohio, will have board certification in Clinical
Pathology, and be eligible for board certification in Transfusion
Medicine. Demonstrable interests in academic pursuits are required.
Applicants should have strong management, communication, and teaching
